FACTS
1
Only 1 out of 5 plastic bottles is recycled. The rest becomes litter or gets buried in a landfill.
5
In the US alone, we waste 22 million gallons of water each year in landfills due to trapped water inside plastic water bottles. That is 22 million gallons of water that we will never get back into the Earth's water cycle.
3
More than 100 million plastic bottles are used worldwide every day!
7
6. Water is vital for all life, and fresh water is vital for human life and the overall health of the planet. While nearly 70% of the world is covered by water, only 2.5% of it is fresh. The rest is saline and ocean-based. Even then, just 1% of our freshwater is easily accessible.
4
An estimated 1,500 plastic bottles end up as waste in landfills or thrown in the ocean every second.
THE PROBLEM
We’ve all done it – bought a bottle of water, soda, juice, energy drink and only then only drink some of it. The bottle and it’s contents outlives it’s original purpose and gets thought of as trash and is discarded.
The problem is the bottle has water or liquid trapped inside. With only a fraction of plastic bottles recycled, the water inside gets trapped until the plastic bottle breaks down which takes an average of 500 to 700 years.
